How to use a sphygmomanometer to measure blood pressure?

Before starting the sphygmomanometer, check it first. The dial of the sphygmomanometer that can be used normally usually refers to the "0" position. After pressurization, it reacts flexibly and can still return to the original "0" position.

Please sit at the table and put your left arm gently on the table to maintain a very comfortable position.

Adjust the arm to the same height as the heart. If the height is not enough, add a cushion under the arm.

Flatten the arm band so that the middle of the air band faces the brachial artery. The lower edge of the arm band reaches 2-3cm above the elbow socket and is bound to the upper arm. It shall not be too tight or too loose. Generally, it is appropriate to insert two fingers under the sleeve to avoid affecting the correctness.

Insert the head of the stethoscope into the arm band and place it on the brachial artery at the elbow.

Slowly pump air into the brachial band with latex ball, and pay attention to monitoring. When the brachial artery pulse disappears, increase the pressure (20mmhg-30mmhg) and stop pumping.

After the pressurization stops, slowly release the air in the armband at the speed of 2mmhg-4mmhg per second, so that the pointer of the sphygmomanometer gradually drops. The pressure value indicated by the gauge needle when the pulsation sound is heard through the stethoscope during the descent is the systolic blood pressure.

When the pulsation turns to murmur after gradual enhancement, the tone suddenly becomes dull and gradually disappears. When the sound is not heard, it is diastolic blood pressure.
