How to measure blood pressure of patients correctly.

Blood pressure should be measured when the patient is resting quietly. If the patient is exercising, or smoking or has emotional fluctuation, the blood pressure should be measured after resting for 30 minutes.

In order to ensure the comparability of continuously measured blood pressure, it is necessary to determine the time, location, body position and specially assigned person for measurement.

Hemiplegic patients should be tested for healthy limbs.

Choose the appropriate width of the pressure pulse band. If it is too narrow, the measured blood pressure value can be high; On the contrary, it is low. Generally, infants use 6 ~ 7 cm wide cuff, school-age children use 9 ~ 10 cm wide cuff, and adults use 12 cm wide cuff.

The pressure pulse band on the arm of patient should be elastic enough to put two fingers. When it is too loose, the blood pressure is high, and when it is too tight, the blood pressure is low.

When the blood pressure cannot be heard clearly and needs to be retested, it must be fully deflated before retesting.

When measuring blood pressure, generally repeat 2 to 3 times, and take the average reading as the blood pressure value.

The back of the sphygmomanometer case is equipped with a metal hook, which can be hung on the arm belt when in use, making the reading more convenient.
